Dr. Joshua Oppenheim Co-Director of Choral ActivitiesJoshua Oppenheim joined the Kansas State University music faculty in 2008. Dr. Oppenheim holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Choral Music Education from Western Michigan University. After successful teaching in elementary, middle and high schools in Michigan, he was a Teaching Fellow at the University of Mississippi where he earned his M.M. in Choral Conducting. He subsequently served as director of the Music Department at Arkansas State University - Beebe, before beginning his D.M.A. in Choral Conducting at the University of North Texas. While at North Texas he taught courses in Choral Conducting and conducted the 120-voice U.N.T. Men's Chorus. In 2005, Dr. Oppenheim founded the professional chamber ensemble "In Voce" based in Dallas, Texas. Prior to coming to the Kansas State, Dr. Oppenheim was on the Choral Music faculty at the Crane School of Music, S.U.N.Y, Potsdam, where he conducted the Crane Chorus and Orchestra, the 75-voice Crane Men's Ensemble, the 85-voice Potsdam Community Choir and taught Choral Conducting and Secondary Choral Methods. Dr. Oppenheim has presented sessions at numerous ACDA conferences in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and at the Western and Southwestern Division ACDA conventions.
